This is a blend of online learning and a 3.5 hour facilitated online course, accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project, running on (all times are in BST):
Tuesday 22nd April 11.00 - 14.30
The Speak Carbon: Creative & Cultural Lab is designed and ran by our partners at SAIL for people working or studying within the creative and cultural sector. Attending the Lab and completing the self directed online learning programme (to equal a day’s worth of learning) will earn participants a Carbon Literacy Project certificate!
During the course, we will learn about the science behind climate change and how we got to this point, before talking about what net-zero carbon means for the UK and our industry. Finally, we will discuss practical steps that arts and cultural organisations can take to start taking action to reduce their carbon footprints.
Anyone can learn to 'Speak Carbon'. Our accessible and easy to digest learning Labs have been designed so that everyone gets something out of them: from beginners to seasoned campaigners, with collaboration and action at the core of what we aim to achieve.
When you have completed a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy training, you will join our growing network of trainers, specialists and folk who Speak Carbon. Bringing together all communities and organisations; working collaboratively to achieve our mission of making: one day’s Carbon Literacy learning available to everyone.
Carbon Literacy: “An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.” Today, over 17,000 individuals and more than 40 organisations are Carbon Literate.
